Cell Phone Target Marketing

Claire: Thanks for stopping by! I just opened this kiosk and business is pretty much awesome! My kiosk is right in front of this trendy girl's clothing store—they have really cute clothes by the way—and a lot of customers are dropping by! Turns out, the same customers who like these clothes are also interested in my pink texting phones—I guess that's why my sales are totally bananas.

Claire

But I've got other phones to sell, too. And that's when this totally brilliant idea hit me. A light bulb like flashed over my head. Obviously, I can't set up my kiosk in front of EVERY store in the mall, but I can use target marketing to attract certain groups to certain phones. So get this: I'm going to place six different cell phone ads, each one featuring a different phone style, outside six different stores in the mall. But here's the kicker: I've figured out exactly where I'm going to place each ad. Why did I pair certain ads with specific stores? Read on and find out!

Pixel-GX

This phone was built for gamers. It has a three-inch screen display with a built-in micro graphics chip, and you can download games and play them wirelessly with your friends. GamerHeaven looks like the perfect place for people who might buy this phone.

v3 teXta

Do a lot of texting? The v3 teXta lets you type faster and read more texts than ever before. I already know that a lot of girls are buying these, so I put this ad outside Abby's Accessories, where lots of girls shop.

The Groover

What better place to advertise a music phone than right outside a music store? You can even buy gift cards in the store that let you buy music to download onto your phone!

i-Cherry

The i-Cherry is all business. E-mail, online calendars, internet access, even music and video. Everybody wants one, but it's expensive, so it's mainly people in business who use them. BizAttire attracts tons of business people. It's the perfect place to advertise i-Cherry.

Flip-Fone!

The Flip-Fone! is a good entry-level first phone. It's easy to use, offers convenience, but no frills and fancy extras—it's just a basic phone for a reasonable price. Since a wide range of people might like this phone, I think the mall entrance would be the best spot for this ad.

GPS-R

Your friend's mom could run over this in her SUV and the phone will still be OK. It features a built-in GPS system that lets you know exactly where you are, and there's a great camera. It's the perfect phone for people who like outdoor adventures and traveling. I'm more of a five-star hotel kinda girl, but I think people who like sleeping on the ground and camping do their shopping at Alaska Jim's Outdoor Outfitters.
