Questions & Answers: Advertising
What is advertising?
Emily: An ad can be ANY form of communication businesses use to get you think about, want, and ultimately buy their product or service. Ads come in all shapes and sizes, and you see them in a lot of different places—in stores, online, in magazines, on TV and the radio, even in your macaroni and cheese!
There's advertising in my mac and cheese? Really?
Isaac: Ever seen a TV or movie cartoon character in your macaroni and cheese, or maybe on your cereal box? That's a type of advertising! It's called brand crossover. Brand crossover is when a well-known brand branches out—or crosses over—into other products to make them more appealing to the people they want to reach.
