RE: SUPPORT OF SELF-REGULATION

Dear Mr. Chairman:

In response to the Commission’s Request for additional comments following the hearing held June 10, 1997, my corporation does use public and non-public records, and supports a proposition of Self-Regulation.

The data/information accessed and used in our daily business activities has had a beneficial use in the representation of our clients. As a regular practice, we keep any and all information confidential; and maintain a high degree of accuracy in accordance to the needs of the representations of our clients.

Privacy Protection Issues can be managed through self-regulation guidelines, inclusive of those guidelines pertaining to the distribution of any and all information gathered for our clients. Industries/businesses/vendors at-large who provide the data/information must have the opportunity to self-regulate; and historically has welcomed the governments intervention in the enforcing of any and all rules, along with the respective industries’ associations assisting in the enforcement process, too.

I ask that you support self-regulation, and to constructively bring about policies & procedures that will benefit any and all businesses for now, and tomorrow.

Respectfully submitted,

John H. Kahn
