Subject: "Telemarketing Review--Comment. FTC File No. P994414"
I think that telemarketers should have to identify themselves immediately when you answer the phone and always give you the opportunity to be permanently removed from their call list. Also, I think they should do a better job of keeping their call lists up to date. I often get mutiple calls from the same company (even after I have asked for my name to be removed from their call list). I also get calls from companies whose products I already have (e.g., credit card calls when I already have their card or newspapers who I already subscribe too).
Personally I wish that there were no telemarketing - I would be very happy if telemarketers were prohibited from calling private residences - it is very disruptive.
Also, we have had calls from telemarketers saying they were from a creidt card company and asking for fees to be paid (which we refused) and then calling the actual credit card company and they say they know nothing about the phone call. It is very difficult to trust any telemarketer when these types of calls occur.
