Attention: Telemarketing Review:

Telemarketers are an annoying, invasive and despicable scourge upon Americans. The Telemarketing Sales Rule seems to have had no effect upon telemarketers whatsoever. Telemarketers who call my home routinely violate laws governing telemarketing. The individuals whom I encounter are rude and ignorant of relevant laws applying to them. I am often hung up on when attempting to obtain information which is supposedly guaranteed to me by law. They almost always fail to comply with requests to remove my name from calling lists. I am often called again and again, even after requesting several times to be removed from calling lists. Telemarketers are sometimes openly obnoxious. Most do not know their companies' do not call policy, fail to provide these policies to me upon request, and refuse to give their full names and phone numbers. When I am given the opportunity to complain to a supervisor, I am either lied to or patronized. More often when I request to speak to a supervisor I am simply hung up on. Telemarketing is a pathetic and intrusive enterprise. I do not want my name, phone number, address and other personal information accessible to these individuals. I do not want my life at the mercy of any con man, criminal or outright psychopath who has access to these lists. I am sick of the government sitting back while the privacy of its citizens is shredded by greedy corporate thugs. I am in favor of free enterprise - until it compromises my privacy and security.

Unless consumers opt in to receive these advertisements, companies should not bother people at home, period.
