BY ELECTRONIC MAIL Federal Trade Commission / Department of Commerce Workshop on Profiling
To Whom It May Concern: On behalf of DoubleClick, I request that a company representative participate in the November 8, 1999 FTC / Department of Commerce workshop on online profiling. DoubleClick would like to participate in both the second and third sessions of the workshop (Session II: Implications of Online Profiling Technology for User Privacy and Session III: The Role of Self Regulation). I believe DoubleClick would add to the workshop in several ways. DoubleClick is a global Internet Advertising Solutions company. We specialize in developing the solutions which make advertising work on the Internet for Web publishers and Web advertisers. By combining a unique combination of media and technological expertise we develop the cutting-edge products and services which have made us a market leader. The DoubleClick Network is a Network of Networks and is made up of six leading Networks of premium content in the following areas: Auto, Business, Entertainment, Technology, Travel and Women/Health. User-defined sub-categories including sports, youth and finance make it easy for advertisers to find and target their desired audiences. DoubleClick Local and DoubleClick International are similar web advertising solutions developed for businesses that want to reach users in specific geographic regions. DoubleClick DART is an ad-serving and management technology which can be used either by business customers on the DoubleClick Network, or by sites outside the DoubleClick Network. This flexibility allows the sites to still take advantage of DoubleClick's unique targeting ability while maintaining their own sales force. DART provides a full-service ad management solution to content providers guaranteeing the same expertise and efficiency that have made the DoubleClick Network a success. DoubleClick is well-positioned to discuss the costs and benefits of online profiling for consumers and businesses. In addition, DoubleClick is very interested in self-regulatory efforts to create an environment of trust that fosters protection for consumers privacy online and in electronic commerce. Therefore, we request that we be included to participate in both Sessions II and III. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (212) 271-8570, or via email at ewang@doubleclick.net. Sincerely, Elizabeth Wang |
