Michael Beckley, Editor of the Appian Web Personalization Report, hereby requests to be a panelist for Session I: Online Profiling Technology. As the Editor of the Appian Web Personalization Report, Mr. Beckley is responsible for evaluating the technology currently offered by online profiling vendors (personalization vendors). The Appian Web Personalization Report covers all of the major vendors in the industry, and has over 1000 corporate and individual readers.

Mr. Beckley has authored numerous articles on online profiling and has several speaking engagements on the topic of online profiling forthcoming. In addition, he is a contributing editor to Personalization.com, the leading Internet forum on personalization and online profiling.

Balance of Interests

Mr. Beckley is an industry expert and analyst in the online profiling field. He is the editor of the Appian Web Personalization Report and has years of experience in analyst and implementation work. Prior to launching Appian Corporation, Michael managed analyst relations for MicroStrategy, where he was also employed as a product manager, educator, and consultant. Michael has lectured on data warehousing and business intelligence (analysis of customer and product data) at leading firms including Best Buy, Caremark, CIBC, First Union, Freddie Mac, General Motors, JP Morgan, PG&E, and Sprint.

Expertise and Knowledge

Appian publishes the Appian Web Personalization Report (www.appiancorp.com/awpr.asp), the most comprehensive assessment of the technology, vendors, and best practices in the Online Profiling sector. As Editor to the Report and the lead author of much of its content, Mr. Beckley has a complete knowledge of the technology in use and in production, as well as the privacy and security issues currently faced by the industry. Mr. Beckley has also investigated and written extensively on the concept of digital identity, the P3P Open Profiling Standards sponsored by the W3C, and emerging online profiling management products such as DigitalMe by Novell and Passport by Microsoft.
