Announcement by FTC Chairman Robert Pitofsky

I plan to step down from the Commission promptly after a new chairman is confirmed by the full Senate. I am willing to stay on as Chairman until that time to make sure the FTC enjoys a smooth transition. However, I anticipate that the new Chairman should be in place by June 1 at the latest.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the last almost six years, and thank all past and current FTC Commissioners and staff for the pleasure of serving with them. It has been an honor to serve as Chair of an agency so critical to ensuring consumers enjoy a fair and competitive marketplace."
