WHAT:

A press conference to announce a sweep by the Northeast Netforce, which includes the FTC and 13 federal, state, and local law enforcement and consumer protection agencies targeting Web-based scams and deceptive spammers. Dozens of law enforcement actions will be announced, and the lessons learned from a coordinated "Spam Harvest" will provide tips for consumers to help them shield themselves from unwanted spam.

In addition to the FTC, members of the Northeast Netforce include: The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Connecticut Attorney General, the Maine Attorney General, the Massachusetts Attorney General, the New Hampshire Department of Justice, the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, the New York State Attorney General, the New York State Consumer Protection Board, the Rhode Island Attorney General, the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Vermont Attorney General.
