02/23/96...Remarks of Thomas Puglia on The Made in USA Label Federal Trade Commission Received Documents Feb. 23, 1996 P894219 B18354900136 Thomas J. Puglia 1 Windsor Road Stoneham, Ma. 02180 December 7, 1995 Federal Trade Commission Pennsylvannia Ave at 6th St. N.W. Washington, D.C. Gentlemen: I am responding to an article "Made in USA" that appeared in the Boston Herald on October 18, 1995. If products are not 100% manufactured in the United States, they certainly do not deserve a label so stating. The FTC has a duty and an obligation to the American public to ensure proper labeling. A deviation from this policy would be a deceptive business practice. As a consumer I prefer to purchase American made products. We should not be subjected to any corporate campaign to boost profits by eliminating manufacturing jobs. A reconsideration of the designation "Made in USA" is not necessary and it can mean only one thing, the further destruction of our domestic manufacturing capacity. Sincerely Yours, Thomas J.
