Washington, D.C. 20580 Re. "Made is USA" Claims in Product Advertising and Labeling Dear Sir/Madam: Precision Kidd Steel Co., Inc. is a 100 year old company, which employs 75 people, producing specialty cold drawn wire and bar primarily for the U.S. Hand Tool Industry. To meet the "Made in USA" requirement of our hand tool customers, we buy $12,000,000/yearly of raw material produced exclusively by domestic steel mills such as Republic Engineered Steels, Canton, OH. and Charter Steel, Saukville, WI. The proposed changes to the "Made is USA" labeling requirements would have two effects: 1. They would dilute the meaning and be misleading. Today "Made in USA" means made in USA from raw material thru finished product 2. It would jeopardize the jobs of our employees and the existence of our company. We ask that you will consider these two points when making your judgments. Very truly yours, PRECISION KIDD STEEL CO., INC. Thomas H. Milhollan President/General Manager THM/sa cc: C.
