Dear Members of the Commission:

  As Chair of the Consumer Protection Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General, I have
followed with interest the Federal Trade Commission's proceeding regarding the proper standard for
representations that a product is "Made in the USA."

  Please be advised that after thorough review and consideration of the issues herein, it is my opinion that the
position taken by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and several other state attorneys general in
this proceeding is the most reasonable and sensible approach to this issue.  Accordingly, I request that you
consider this letter to be my formal request to join the comments of said state attorneys general which were filed
on January 16, 1996, in this proceeding.
