|Agency:||Federal Trade Commission|
|Rule:||Telemarketing Sales Rule Fees|
Comments:The proposed increase in fees only harms the smaller companies. When this legislation took place, it was the first time that I had seen such action without a bill to finance and retrain those affected. Since 2003 I have reduced my workforce in telemarketing by over 100 folks. These were welfare to work jobs with health insurance. Those people are now out of the workforce. These were good stable jobs. The city of Branson is now hurting for sales tax revenue. The major telemarketers reported to the City that becasue of the no-call lists that they purchased in 2005 over 200,000 less room nights, and the same amount less in show tickets, than in 2002. This effect has been felt in many other segments of industry in our area and our state. I think that enough damage has been done, in this regard. Thank you for the opportunity to communicate.
