Comments:
The consumer should be able to put a freeze on his line of credit account indefinitely at any time and not just for a limited amount of time. This would allow consumers that are worried about new lines of credit being opened fraudulently to take action and not permit new lines of credit to be opened under their identity so easily. Also, preapproved credit card solicitations should not be permitted to be sent by mail as these can be easily accessed in someone's mailbox and sent to a new address without the knowledge of the intended recipient. Please also take a look at the following URL for an illustration of how broken the process is (a credit card issuer accepted a ripped preapproved form and send it to a "new" residence, this story is known on the Internet as "The Torn-Up Credit Card Application") http://www.cockeyed.com/citizen/creditcard/application.shtml
