I do not sell finanical products these classes are strickly education. I have developed materials and power points on the topic of Identity Theft that are better than anything out there. I have been a victim twice of ID theft and the second time was while I had Fraud alerts in place. The challenges at hand stem from the FTC and the CRA's and Congress. The current laws are to vage and reporting to the Credit Bureaus is not required but voluntary. This means accounts can be hidden by companies. I know this because this happened to me. We have plenty of ID proof now, a passport, valid drivers license. The Government agencys such as the S.S. department want nothing to do with ID theft I know this because I have talked with them and their website makes no reference to the crime and their little 8 page brochure is a joke. The U.S. Post Office I find it very easy to change addresses. The CRA's (credit reporting agencies) break federal laws daily. This can easily be proved by myself or thousand of consumers as well. The CRA's run our lives, their system of email disputes is not working they deny 90% of email disputes because they do not check and the financil institutions do not check. We have enough Identification verification now. We need to fix the current system and enforce the laws on the books now. More systems and laws will just make more things that are not policed. The FCRA and FACTA are too vague. Business are not held accountable for the crime of Identity Theft The GLB act does not work and give to much power to the financial institutions. Where is the indemnification clause for consumers in the FCRA or the FACTA there are none. We must hire an attorney and let a judge decide if our case is trivial or not. Congress is paid off by the special interest groups that contribute to their campain funds. The FTC makes money from the CRA's in fines (Febuary 21,2007 consumerinfo.com fine) and the CRA's don't mind paying the fines because they make Billions in revenue from the consumers that are in a corner and must purchase the CRA's products and the CRA's are in business with the Debt Collectors who purchase the CRA's services. You must fix the current system that is very broken. I could go on and on about the broken system. I am proof the system is broken. As an Accredited Financial Counselor my career is my FICO score and I am at the mercy of the CRA's the not put fraudulent info back on my Credit Report. They still will and still do because they can. The FTC can not keep up with the current system and the CRA's know only a very small percentage of people will ever litigate. We do not need more proof of Identification. The illegals need to have proper documents under the current laws we don't need more laws just enforce the ones we have. Until Congress stops taking bribes and the FTC truley holds the CRA's accountable the system will remain broken. The FCRA and FACTA are a bandaid and we need tougher laws. The Banks also get away with theft because the consumer has little recourse under the current Identity Theft laws. Congress thinks the FACTA is a great act it only goes half way. We need a true enforcement division to make sure the current laws are enforced we do not need more, we can't police the current laws why do you think we need more?? I have much more to say but you may not be interested in what I have already said. Phillip E. Day, AFC </body></html>
