I am thankful for the withdrawal of this influence in the lives of my children. It was sufficiently detrimental to my them that their father was an alcoholic, but at least they were not given the impression through advertising that drinking was a desirable and acceptable habit. Our teen dringing rate has sky-rocketed and I am sure tht it is due in part to advertising directed dat a youthful market. Alcohol and tobacco are the same; get them young enough and you have a consumer for your products for life. As a citizen and taxpayer, I support the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) intention to issue a new report reviewing alcohol industry advertising practices and compliance with voluntary advertising codes. The federal government does not do nearly enough to monitor alcohol industry marketing. Self-regulation by the alcoholic beverage industry is clearly insufficient, given the well-documented, repeated failures of alcohol manufacturers to adhere to voluntary guidelines. I urge the FTC to strengthen its reporting process. Thank you for your consideration of this issue. I hope that future FTC actions will protect our youth from irresponsible and dangerous alcohol marketing. </body> </HTML>
