I have rented from this company for years and I was told exactly what would happen if I reported the computer stolen, it was lost, or if I took off with it.
During the rental time, my laptop became missing and I could not find it. The rental store told me that it was my responsibility. They even half acted as I was lying. They just said I was responsible for it. What a bunch of A-holes they were. Then I was told by their boss that if I agreed to it, they would turn on the camera and they would find out if I was lying.
A few weeks went by and they call me saying they have some information to share with me and ask me to come to the store. When I get there I am met by the police and they show me pictures and information that leads them to believe I sold the computer to a person living in my apartment building. After a few minutes, we discover that my son sold it to the neighbor. I did not like being accused of stealing, but if they did not have this capability I would have been still responsible for the computer and thought to be a thief. I did have to deal with what my son did, but at least the truth was known and I got the computer back.
It is unfortunate that many of us have to turn to renting these days, but we do. We often live in areas where there are a lot of crimes so having this software is a blessing.
