Dear Sir or Madam I just received this information regarding pending proposed opportunity rule R511993. I am stunned and am overwhelmed by a feeling of doom for my business. This will completely shut my sole source of feeding my family down. I am a holistic Nutritionist and am an honest and hard working American who can barely meet the financial demands placed on me as it is. Taxes rising, prices increasing and now this. You state that you are trying to eliminate "unfair and deceptive acts or practices"! I see this as just that. Are you trying to shut down the small business owner who is involved in multi level marketing and network marketing? How could a company such as the Shaklee corporation exist for 50 years without ethical practices? The seven day waiting period will not only shut down my prospective business builders, but my customers as well. I am alive today and so are my two children because we were able to find this company and use its products. I was attracted to the company because of the potential to help our health, but also because I was broke and unable to afford the products. It was the hope that they would help us, that I would be able to then be an example to people around us who were also suffering that enabled me to purchase the products I needed to recover. It did exacctly that. I am looking at hundreds of potential customers and wonderful business builders who NEED the opportunity to create their own business in order to purchase their products. The seven day wait is absurd as it will be much much longer than that. In addition, people are phobic regarding identity theft and will not become involved in something that requires this much disclosure. Who put this together!!?? Obviously someone with an agenda on closing all network marketing companies down. I have never in my 11 years with the company worked with someone who was unethical or quoted facts that were dishonest. In addition, the release or lawsuits that would shut down a company regardless of their validity is also absurd!!! Have you looked at how many dishonest people file lawsuits today? Their only motive being financial gain?do you realize how many of these suits you would be looking at with the average company? This is a critical part of my livelihood. If this rule passes, you will shut me down completely and I will be on the unemployed line. I will be unable to help hundreds of people who are already suffering from ill health and financial loss and they will be forced to try supplements that only make their health worse. My own son is expecting to go back to college because of his business and he hopes to help other students pay for their college educations by doing an HONEST and Ethical business part time with the Shaklee corporation. This will end all of that and he will be forced to continue working menial jobs because he did not have the money to pay for his family and his education and the TIME to get the education. He is not alone. You will be shutting all these people down. It was the honesty, the integrity and the SAFETY and QUALITY of this company that attracted me to them. I have NEVER been dissapointed with the results, and I have NEVER had a product that did not contain what it claimed, did not do what it claimed to clinically do and I never had to worry about the safety of the product. You must STOP thisRule from passing. It will destroy many people's lives who are honest and hard working Americans. THis rule has many consequences and there MUST be less burdensome alternatives available to the agency to achieve its goals. Sincerely Karen Burrows
