Regarding: (NPR) R511993 I am opposed to this rule in its current format for many reasons: The 7-day waiting period puts the direct selling market in a negative place when it has been an economic benefit to many in our country, not only for the seller, but also the customer. This waiting period leads to administrative issues also and causes unnecessary delays. It is totally impractical to be able to find 10 distributors nearby and raises an issue with privacy and safety from ID theft. I can appreciate the FTC's goals and do know there are bad people out there in the marketplace, but the proposed rule would unfairly negatively affect legitimate and honest direct selling businesses. We have been involved with direct selling since 1982. With both myself and my husband having come from IBM Corporation, we have always made it a priority to be honest and professional in our business affairs. I began this type of business because of health issues and later for wanting to stay at home to raise our child and home school. Being able to be involved in a direct selling company has made a huge difference in the quality of our lives. Because of my situation, we have been able to help others who have health issues or want to remain home to raise families, to do the same because of the opportunity that direct selling provides. With our nation's families being torn apart in so many way with the overworked and over-stressed lifestyles, direct selling brings a breath of fresh air to the marketplace and economy. Please don't dump all of the direct sellers into the trash bin. There are good people out here contributing in a positive way to society.
