I have had a direct marketing business with Shaklee Corp. for over 25 years. As an independent representative trying to build a business, I think the proposed legislation is far too complicated and business hendering. The majority of members who come into my organization do so for the benefit of being able to use products personally and save money. The disclosure requirement proposed would have a very negative affect on the consumer aspect of my business. Also, because of the business nature of Shaklee being family and friends oriented, the knowledge of other members within a certain area could be counter productive to business development. I am not in favor of the proposed legislation. It would definitely hurt my business, a wonderful business I have thoroughly enjoyed since 1979. If disclosure information is deemed necessary, maybe an annual report of some sort could be available to concerned citizens. Shaklee Corporation is a good company to work with and for. I do know that many companies are started with poor business principles and can cause people harm. Perhaps just a rating of good and bad companies could accomplish the wanted goals. Please do not destroy a good company because of the poor behavior of other businesses.
