I received an e-mail today from Young Living regarding the Business Opportunity Rule Matter, # R511993. I have been one of their distributors for several years. I am also a distributor for Melaluca. I do not do a large amount of business through either company, but I do get items for personal use and for my friends and family. My main income is from full time work outside of the house. I have a daughter that is 12 years old. This summer she is too old for daycare, and I feel she is still too young to be home alone all day while I am at work. I will need to adjust my schedule to make sure that I am home for her. I am counting on being able to sell with these companies and sign people up as distributors under me to help me make up the income that I will be losing. My family counts on my income. That being said, my daughter is still my main priority. In America right now, too many parents are stuck with the decision of leaving their child home alone while they work or not being able to provide for those children. Many people, thinking that these are the only options, are leaving kids home alone for 8-10 hours a day. What will happen to all of the children that are raising themselves? We NEED these types of opportunities available so people can work from home AND be there for their children. I realize that the proposed rule does not ban these home business opportunities, but the rules included in it will seriously cripple the industry. Needing to wait seven days from the time of receiving the disclosure statement to when a person can sign up is inappropriately long. I am a Realtor and people do not have to wait that long to buy a house! We are also in a time of identity theft. What type of information would be needed on an “Earnings Claim Statement”? Would it be beneficial to the person that worked hard to earn their money to be forced to give out that information? I realize that there are fraudulent people out there trying to scam money out of people. But there are honest, organized, legitimate companies out there that are HELPING people. There are already avenues available for people to use if they get scammed out of their money. Please do not legislate away the rights of honest, hardworking people by putting in unnecessary governmental controls. Thank you for taking the time to consider my point of view. Sincerely, Kris Sulzbach
