I am writing briefy in regards to FTC Business Opportunity Rule #R511993). I have been a constultant with Partylite for 3 years and a leader with the company for 2 years. Partylite is my main source of income and actually allowed me to be able to quit my full time job as a paramedic. I love my job, what I do, the people I meet and this is all because of the incredible opportunity Partylite has given me. I am concerned about the proposed regulations for a couple of reasons. One being the seven day waiting period for new consultants. I think this sheds a unnecessary negative light on our business and the direct sales arena in general. I also believe that when a prospective consultants is ready to get started and begin earning money...the are ready and excited, not ready to wait a week and then get started. Especially with jobs being hard to find, one of the upsides is direct sales is you CAN get started right away as well as begin earning right away. Please reconsider. The second point is that of privacy. As I do agree that new consultants should check around and get feedback from their peers, I believe confidentiality is an issue here. I personally LOVE to talk about what I do and share with others, however, I do not want my phone number given out to strangers without my consent, nor would I be comfortable giving out the personal information of others without their consent. One last point, I believe this will also create paperwork hassles and record keeping nightmares that may deter the newer consultants from sharing this great opportunity, as well as seasoned consultants and leaders. Please reconsider these ammendments. The direct sales companies offer incredible opportunities, as I said before I do believe in protecting the consumer, however, protect those of us who run legitimate businesses and offer positvie career opportunites!
