Dear Federal Trade Commission Member, I am writing to you regarding your proposed regulations for those of us in the direct selling business. I am a PartyLite Leader and have been working in this business for just over seven years. In that time, I have been able to build an income that allows me to stay at home with my infant son. My husband and I value this more than we ever thought we would. We are first time parents and feel blessed that 7 yrs ago I was able to ‘give PartyLite a try’ without any difficulty. In addition, I have brought many people, including family members, into this business, who have also been able to use this opportunity to support themselves and their families. The regulations you are planning would make it incredibly difficult to introduce anyone to this opportunity. One of the best things about this business is that anyone can start this business and be earning money within a time frame of just two weeks! Most people join PartyLite wanting and often needing to earn money right away. Your proposal would make them wait even longer. In addition, in this day and age, I cannot see myself sharing private information about other PartyLite Consultants and I certainly do not want my private information to be shared without my consent or knowledge. Potential new consultants are always encouraged to come to our free trainings to meet and speak with the consultants in their area. It’s a valued support system that helps us to keep our business’ going strong. Please know that I’m thankful that we have the FTC working to protect average consumers like me, but in this case, you would be working against me, negatively impacting my income, my future and my family’s future. Please reconsider the regulations you are proposing. Respectfully Yours, Heidi M. Autio PartyLite consultant and Leader.
