Dear Federal Trade Commission Member, I am writing to you regarding your proposed regulations for those of us in the direct selling business. I am a PartyLite Leader and have been working in this business for 5 years. In that time, I have been able to build a successful and personally fulfilling business that has allowed me to stay home with my young daughter, who has never had to go to day care, and contribute several thousand dollars a month in income to my family. In addition, I have brought many people into this business, who have also been able to use this opportunity to support themselves and their families. I feel good about sharing PartyLite's very real business opportunity with others, and want to continue to easily introduce PartyLite to more people who could benefit as I have. One of the best things about this business is that anyone can start and begin earning money within 2 weeks. Often, people join PartyLite because they need to earn money right away, and this proposal would require them to wait even longer. In addition, I cannot see myself sharing private information about other PartyLite consultants, nor do I want my private information shared without my consent. I am very thankful that we have the FTC working to protect consumers such as myself, but in this case, this proposal will be working against me, many other consultants and leaders like me, our incomes, our families and our futures. Please reconsider the regulations you are proposing. Respectfully yours, Dawn W. Smith Independent Consultant/Senior Unit Leader PartyLite Gifts, Inc.
