Hello: I am a leader with PartyLite Gifts Inc. I would like to comment on the new rule being proposed regarding a waiting period and reference request for anyone signing up to be a new consultant in direct sales. Our company already has a waiting period, but I am concerned more about the ten required references. That is definitely a problem. If you are a consultant or leader, you would be contacted for a reference every time there was a new consultant brought into PartyLite if you are within a certain distance from him/her. For consultants, this is a privacy issue and a logistical nightmare!!!! For leaders, you can bet there will be someone out there that will figure out how to undercut, undermine, or even steal your new consultant. Some people just do not operate by a moral code of ethics and will stop at nothing to get ahead. We need to allow new consultants to think for themselves. We are way to over-regulated as it is. Please reconsider this proposal. It will protect a few people who do not bother to do their homework, but It will make things worse for those who are already in the direct sales industry.
