Choosing to become an independent contractor for a company is an individual choice. The companies do not impose deadlines to become a representative and neither should the FTC. If a person wants to find out about the company they are considering they can do it on their own time before they become a consultant. I've never held a job where the FTC said I should investigate the company or have them disclose lawsuits against them before I chose to accept a job offer. There are multiple ways to investigate the integrity of a company including the Better Business Bureau. And most importantly this is an individual choice and last time I checked I didn't need any advice from the FTC when choosing my place of employment or my mode of income. Please do not impose this law on the direct selling indutry.
