To Whom it May Concern: I am not new to the network marketing industry. In fact, it seems as if I have been approached by people in this industry since I was 18 years old. I am now 37. The unfortunate truth for me was that I never really understood how it worked until about 10 years ago, when I had the priveledge to actually work for a MLM business in their corporate office. It was a wonderful experience. I learned that it is possible to be successful regardless of your upbringing, financial status and education. I was continually inspired by those who had struggled and were finally succeeding. What I ulitmately learned, was that in this industry, the American Dream exists. After realizing that I didn't have to be a customer service representative for the rest of my life and that I could actually achieve my goals and dreams, I started looking for a company that I could feel good about joining. I found a company about two and a half years ago. What I realized was that I was not a "natural born salesman". I realized that I was going to have to learn as I went. I have spent more money than I have made. However, I know where I personally have failed in this business. The fact that I am not a millionaire and the fact that I am struggeling does not mean that this industry has lied to me in any way. This doesn't deter me. That is why I have remained faithful to this industry. Unsrupelous people exist in every industry. Liars will always lie, cheaters will always cheat. Fortunately, there are more good, hardworking and honest people in this business than not. The philosophy that drives this business is that for someone to be successful, they need to help others be successful. This is so very different than the corporate environments that I have worked in. I am only guaranteed success in network marketing when I help others achieve success. There is no such thing as get rich quick, yet the possibility to acheive success through consistant effort and time is there. There is a risk in starting any business. I like the fact that the risk to starting this business costs less than a fun night on the town. My concern about the proposed changes the FTC is making is that they will make it even more difficult for those of us who are trying so hard to achieve success. Penalizing those who are honest in our business dealings, seems to go against our capitalist values. I value the opportunity to share my thoughts with you. Thank you, Susan Booth
