To: Federal Trade Commission Title: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Subject Category: Business Opportunity Rule CFR Citation: 16 CFR Part 437 Thank you for considering this new rule. I have known many of my friends to have been unduely influenced on business opportunites that have misrepresented themselves. They got involved and it took a long time to figure out that the representations made by the ones seeking their involvement were fruadulent. Meantime, many of my friends are still losing money after years of involvement still believing that the "big money" will come one day. They were recruited by false pretenses and they became caught up in the dynamics of a group that enveloped them, and find it difficult to get out. One of these groups is Amway/Quixtar. Only 1% of those that join ever make a profit off of this business opportunity. They have misrepresented the income possible as well as the amount of time involved. They have misrepresented the amount of people that have gotten involved with them and consequently left the group because of not making the "big money"...infact, making no money and most ALL of them losing money. Had this information been available before they got involved I would be sure that they could have made a more informed decision and saved many months and even years of trusting a group and then having lost money because of that trust. Thank you again for helping the public safeguard themselves from fraud. Please continue with these guideline and rules and PLEASE put them into place so as to protect those in our society that may be defrauded in the future. I am excited to finally see my Government taking better action. This will help those that may get caught up in MLM companies that misrepresent themselves, which I have found that MANY of the do. The small amount of inconvience they claim this will make in their MLM is a small price to pay for the protection of our Society against those that wish cheat inocent people. Please don't let these people sway this office into watering down or removing this wonderful tool to protect the citizens of the United States of American. Sincerely, Margie James
