28 June 2006 Gents, Your proposed changes for Quixtar have serious and ominous implications for many other businesses. When will these same requirements be implemented for car [new and used] purchases? How about garage sales? Realtors? Furniture? Appliances? Insurance sales? Stocks, bonds, investments? Financial planners? All companies who recruit sales people? Will corporations [IBM, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Merrill Lynch, etc] have to provide 10 yrs of legal allegations to prospective employees? Will you assist us in getting these legal documents for us to distribute to prospects? If not you, what government agency will you task to do this? Isn't it an invasion of my privacy for you to require that I be contacted as a "reference" by every IBO interested in getting in the Quixtar business in my local area whether they are in my Quixtar business or not? This should keep the ACLU and your FTC attorneys busy for years! What is your requirement for an IBO to substantiate his or her income? Inspection of an IBO's IRS Form 1040 or 1099s? Hello ACLU! In short, whoever came up with this idea has no idea how the Quixtar business actually works. Conceptually, perhaps; realistically, no. Such policy changes seem to have been orchestrated by individuals with no knowledge of building a Quixtar distributorship, or by individuals known as "Quixtar Haters." Those FTC employees who precipitated this idea should be fired! At the very least, a copy of this and other rebuttal letters should be placed in his or her personnel file indefinitely. This proposed FTC policy certainly has not been thoroughly thought out by the FTC as to where it may lead and the ramifications it may have on other businesses, especially Quixtar. These proposed FTC changes will be devastating for all Quixtar IBOs, the Quixtar Corp, and my income/lifestyle of 32 years with Amway and Quixtar. If it is your intention to destroy the MLM industry and all other recruiting agencies, you are on the right track. Your requirements will reduce the chance of anyone succeeding in this industry practically impossible. Benjamin F. Elmore LtCol USAF [Ret]
