My wife and I have been Amway and now Quixtar independent business owners for 26 years. We have always had a very good relationship with them as do the people in our organization. We feel the proposed laws would turn off prospects who are looking at our business opportunity. Had we been faced with the proposed laws, we probably wouldn't have become involved. What concerns us most is that such laws will discourage independent business owners who have been on board for a short time. Many of them have never had their own business and are now growing personally in the learning process. Making so many changes all at once changes the picture. To them it could be too much to handle. Today we depend on our income from our Quixtar business to suppliment our Social Security and my military pension. We feel Quixtar's history is excellent. They and the IBOA have treated us fairly. We trust them and are confident they have the independent business owners' best interests at heart. We know where they stand on the proposed laws and we are behind them 100%. Sincerely, H. Alan Stark
