The proposed Business Opportunity Rule is a BAD idea unless the Commission feels the FTC should be allowed to significantly disrupt and interfere with networking and home business opportunities. Far to many of our federal agencies affectively run interference on behalf of big business interests. The truth is the perceived benefits of a Business Opportunity Rule may sound good but the reality is often very different. Are some individuals mislead by some deceitful business opportunities unfortunately, yes. However this rule would do ten times more harm then good since the majority of businesses are run honestly and those businesses like ours would find the new rule to be costly and difficult to keep up with. Over regulating any industry has virtually always done more harm then good. All to often rules that were meant to protect people by regulating business affairs in the end do more damage by creating obstacles that only hinders new business start-ups with insurmountable obstacles. I have a business degree and was a deans list student. I am proud of my work history including businesses I have owned in the past as well as the ones I own now. I am an environmentalist and our overall objective now is to save Earth. To accomplish that we must financially empower people and without question I can tell you that this rule could make it just to difficult to develop our business. We have gone to great lengths to keep greedy individuals out of our companies. Now I hear of this rule that could prevent us from accomplishing our environmental goals. To say I am concerned after hearing about this would be an understatement. The good news is that we are also very actively involved with over sixty advocacy groups. So should this BAD rule pass--odds are you will get to know what a really bad idea it was since we will be protesting not only the agencies and politicians responsible for this but also the individuals that promoted or voted to pass such a bad idea. Accountability is something we should always require. Thank you for reading our concerns over this proposed rule. We hope the FTC will consider this matter carefully since making such a bad decision could seriously hurt our economy. There are a lot of single moms and work-at-home individuals that will be really upset when you put the legitimate companies they work for as independent agents out of business. Nope I sure would not want to be in your position should this proposed rule pass. Good luck with that! A. Tait
