I am writing this in hopes of making a difference. I understand that the FTC is considering a rule that forces potential independent consultants in the direct selling industry to experience a "waiting" period to start up a business. I also understand that the potential consultant would be given the right to contact ten people in his or her geographical area in order to recieve additional information about the company they are considering starting a business with. THIS is a very dangerous proposition. We, as independent consultants, are affected by this measure drastically. Depending on who they were to talk to, their opinion, if falsely negative, could affect my growth and income. I have been in the direct sale industry for 13 years and know of several Consultants in my industry that have failed due to poor work ethic, unorganization and lack of motivation. WHY would I want any of my potential business partners talking to these individuals who have not enjoyed the same successes as I have through my hard work and dedication. Please reconsider this position as it greatly affects my business. Sincerely, Laura Klein
