My comments pertain to the following proposal: PART 437--BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY RULE As a small business person, this whole proposal sounds like "big brother". I enjoy the freedom to pursue a home-based business. However, I do NOT want MY personal name, address, or any other information given to "new members" when they sign up with one of my suppliers without my express knowledge and consent, which unless I KNOW the person, is NOT going to happen. My suppliers and I have good working relationships. These are honest companies. Myself and these very companies will be adversely affected if this proposal gets passed. I will not know WHO has MY information, and I will have no rights to require their personal information. Do you not see how this could lead to not only identity theft, but to unsavory business practices by "new members" trying to sell the same products as I in the same area. As is, if I attend a craft fair, flea market, etc kind of thing, I risk "newbies" as I call them trying nasty tricks to steal my loyal customers. I don't need a law that gives these people MY name and address. I'm all for healthy competition, but this is ridiculous. Yes, I understand you are trying to protect all of us from the wolves out there selling "air" (as in nothing), hyping it up with promises to help us succeed, taking our money, and running. However, what this proposal wants to do will hurt more than help. The dishonest "businesses" that you want to stop with this ruling will just find ways around it. Only the honest businesses will do what is required, though it would put a very large and unfair burden on us, both financial as well as paperwork wise. I am an intelligent woman who has researched before choosing my suppliers and know that they are honest, as I am. Please don't pass a law that requires them to give away my information to people who will be MY competitors, and in my very backyard. Please, give us a break! Ditch this proposal. If you think further legislation is needed, I strongly encourage you to think of something that does NOT include providing MY personal information to people I do not know without my consent. Would you want YOUR name, address, phone number and possibly other personal information published and given to others without YOUR consent? I don't think so!!! Well, neither do I. Do not make companies like Avon, EcoQuest, Home Interiors, Mary Kay, Nature's Sunshine, NuSkin, Pampered Chef, Party Lite, SMC (Specialty Merchandise Corp), Tupperware, or any other similar company that requires "membership" disclose names and information of it's current members to new members. I believe there must be other ways to curb illegal schemes. This is not it. Thank you Sherri Breen
