Federal Trade Commission Title: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Subject Category: Business Opportunity Rule CFR Citation: 16 CFR Part 437 This is something that has been needed for a long time. I am sure you will be bombarded with protests from The Direct Sales Association and their member companies. We need these rules to be in place and enforced. There are many fine companies and individuals associated with those DSA companies. However, there are also many associated with those companies who are less than honorable/ truthful. in the ways they conduct business when it comes to recruiting other members of their sales teams. There is a real need to eliminate the practice of "say or do anything" to get that next recruit. It is not difficult for a Direct Sales Company to track the information necessary for an individual to make an informed decision. I am a Independent Sales Consultant with a well known direct sales company. I am very proud of the ethical way I conduct my business. There is not one thing I have read in this proposal that would make it impossible or even difficult to run my business. You will undoubtably be hearing the opposite from many other consultants of mine and other Direct Sales companies. Do not believe it. I will tell you that the vast majority of these people have not personally read any of the availalbe documents, but instead, are responding to a plea from the leadership of their Direct Sales organization. Again, this needs to take effect as soon as possible. Too many people are being taken advantage of.
