To Whom It May Concern: I have read the proposed regulations regarding the Direct Selling Companies/Direct Selling Association. As an independent consultant, my business survives on the ability of individuals to make their own decisions in becoming a consultant beside me or underneath me. I have never lied, deceived, misled or avoided any questions to prospective consultants. If they have had questions as far as how many have stopped, or would like to speak to someone who has previously quit, I have been more than happy to provide them the information they request. Frankly, I've had very few people concerned with this, especially as PartyLite allows you to keep all product, sales and promotions that you earned while a consultant, with no penalties. There are no strings attached, and are free to leave at any time without worrying about owing anything to the company. Also, the ability to sign a new consultant up immediately is important -as after a week their enthusiasm can falter, and that's more time for people around them to talk them out of signing up. We, as consultants, have to ride the tide of enthusiasm and freshness for our businesses to survive. I urge you to consider the small businesses and entrepenuers that are surviving off of these direct selling companies. Personally, being a consultant is my career, and how I support my family; and I know I'm not the only one.
