Federal Trade Commission/Office of the Secretary, Room H-135 (Annex W) Re: Business Opportunity Rule, R511993 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20580 RE: Business Opportunity Rule, R511993 Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing this letter because I am concerned about the proposed Business Opportunity Rule R511993. I believe that in its present form, it could prevent me from continuing as a Distributor with XanGo, and destroy my small business. I have been an independent home based business Distributor for 11 years. Originally, I began as a product user only, gaining great benefit from the health products available through the business. Others were impressed with my results and ordered the products from the same company. When that occurred I received payment from the company. When I became a single Mother of 2 teenagers, I needed a second income and earned a parttime income from working my network marketing company. Now I work my business fulltime. It is my sole support, 100%, and I have helped hundreds with their health challenges by introducing them to natural products for their health. The proposed RuleR511993 is not only unnecessary, but will totally end my ability to both earn a living, survive actually, and help others. Some of the sections in the proposed rule would make it virtually impossible for me to sell my product. The waiting period will give the public the idea that there’s something wrong with me or our plan. And that is simply not the case. I also think the seven-day waiting period is totally unnecessary, because XanGo already has a 100% buyback policy for its one single product. One of the most difficult sections of the proposed rule is that seven day waiting period to enroll a new Distributor. XanGo’s sales kit only costs $35. People buy TVs, cars, and other items that cost much more than that and they don’t have to wait seven days. Under this waiting period requirement, I will need to keep very detailed records when I first speak to someone, and will then have to send in reports to my company. I am a small home business and this burden will hurt or destroy my business. This proposed rule is actually anti-small business. The new Tax laws help small business owners. Now this is turning the tide the other way. What with the downsizing of American businesses, people have to have a way of supporting their families. It's bad enough that people are losing their health benefits and pensions. Finally, the proposed rule requires the disclosure of a minimum of 10 prior purchasers nearest to the prospective purchaser. How would I know that? I would have to go back to the compnay every time I want to share the product with a new person. That is not feasable. I am glad to provide references, but to give out personal data about others just so someone can spend $100 or less on health products is absurd. I believe it's easier to buy a gun! There are many scams about, not just on the Internet, but over the phone as well. Seniors are often targeted by unsavory individuals. Here in Florida we read about that all too often. However, this Rule will do nothing to stop those types of people. With the downsizing of America, companies large and small laying off people, our Industry gives people employment, a service to help others, and a job where they do not become a burden to the government or their families. This rule will do nothing to stop the scoundrels, but everything to stop my income. Thank you in advance for your favorable consideration of this request. Sincerely, _____________________________________ Janice Stieglitz Independent XanGo Distributor
