We applaud any efforts to reduce fly by night deals that come along, but please DO NOT restrict the success of the many legitimate businesses in Direct Marketing. As an Independent Business Owner powered by Quixtar, I have great concerns of the harm your proposed Trade Regulation Rule on Business Opportunities would cause me and others in this business. I believe the FTC and other regulatory agencies are doing a good job to protect people from harm in our industry, but please do NOT put these proposed restrictions on us. We are always clear to inform people that the amount of success they have is based on their own effort and accomplishments and no one can guarantee them anything other than an opportunity. We and our organization provide all new prospects with the average earnings of Independent Business Owners in the Quixtar business as required by the FTC. We also let them know that over $1 billion in profit has been earned by IBOs in the first 6 years of Quixtar. We always feel good to offer the plan and products, as our satisfaction guarantee ensures that no one can be financially hurt. Even the cost of our business kit and sample products of less than $150 is refundable if someone changes their mind. This is much better than having to wait 7 days before they can register and start their own business. We believe the first few days after seeing the business are critical to getting them into action and moving them ahead with the information and help they need to see their own results. Providing a list of 10 IBOs in their area is first of all an invasion of privacy, revealing names, phone numbers and other personal and private information. As the new person is a free agent, some of the 10 IBOs could persuade the new person to join in their own line of sponsorship. We provide second look meetings where new people can review the Quixtar concept and meet other IBOs. They can visit in person to get other's input and experience. Our opinion is that some other IBOs legal conflicts have nothing to do with how we or anyone else conducts our business. Personal integrity and responsibility is at the forefront of business success. Thank you for considering these points of concern before moving forward on the proposal. Sincerely, Patricia M. Kane Quixtar Independent Business Owner
