Comments On Business Opportunity Rule I have been involved in the Direct Selling industry for many years. My experience includes relative success with several companies. Part of my ability to meet family bills and financial obligations is tied to my earnings in Direct Selling. The prosed ruling would put an unnecessary burden on my doing business in direct sellling Business Opportunity. I am also a realtor and I can find no comparable rulings for that industry by the FTC or any other government body, though the failure rate in real estate sales opportunity is quite high. In fact most businesses fail within the first five years. Peoples expectations at an easy time in any business venture is misplaced. Targeting the Direct Selling industry is unfair, unjust, and difficult for me to understand as an experienced entrepreneur. Direct Selling is an ideal opportunity for some one with little education or business experience to make some extra money or perhaps become more successful. As I said, the odds of success in any business is small. The expectations of the Direct Selling industry should be no different than any other sales opportunity. I believe that income claims and product misrepresentations are already covered in current rules around direct selling and any further regulation would offer other Business Opportunities an unfair advantage over a Direct Selling Business Opportunity. I respectfully suggest that the Business Opportunity Rule is over regulation, targets direct selling opportunities unfairly, and offers others an unfair advantage when considering all Business Opportunities as whole. In reading the ruling the specifics are so cumbersome that it would have a disastrous effect on my ability to make a living in the direct selling Business Opportunity category. The financial investment in direct selling Business Opportunities to get started is among the lowest required in any business franchise . Allow those willing to have the Free Enterprise Opportunity our country has been built on. The ruling in its present form begins with the premise that some sort of success had been guaranteed. I find no such claims in any Direct Selling opportunity that I have been involved in. Why not direct your efforts at specific firms making income or false product claims than the industry as a whole?
