Comments:

I strongly oppose the Business Opportunity Rule R511993. The rule as proposed would make it difficult for me to operate my business as a Shaklee Independent Distributor. I am 71 years of age and just became a member of the Shaklee business and am trying to build an independent business to supplement my social security income. Making it more difficult for me is not what I need at this juncture of my life. Requiring a disclosure of a minimum of 10 prior purchasers nearest to the propective purchaser is not only complicated, it puts other Shaklee distributors at risk for identity theft. There is no doubt that most people will look askance at this requirement and just simply won't sign up. This proposed rule will add a tremendous amount of paperwork. For what reason? The system in place is agreeable to all parties and no one is being deceived. This unnecessary rule will only hamper my ability to build a business. It makes me feel as if my government is working against me instead of for me. I have been a Shaklee consumer for 25 years and have decided to build a business because I believe in the products building better health through nutrition and the use of their household biodegrable products to help the environment. My other reason for starting the business is because I need to make a living. Social security just doesn't cut it. I am looking at my Shaklee business supporting me into my 80's and 90's, so to put an unnecessary rule in place to make it difficult for me and others is hard to understand. Thanks you for allowing me to voice my concern through these comments. Sincerely, Betty J. Simecka
