Dear Commission Members, My wife and I are independant business owners utilizing Quixtar as our contracting corporation. We are excited about our business team and where we are going. We have never before had the opportunity to make money outside our standard jobs, so it is a great opportunity as far as we are concerned. Although we are glad that the FTC wants to standardize regulations for all businesses (and scams) of this type, there are a few parts of this proposed ruling that we feel would greatly hinder the ability of honest businesses to grow. Firstly, I do not believe that requiring a specific amount of time to pass before registering someone is neccessary, or , at times, feasable. Requiring a waiting period of seven days would cause all but the most enduring and patient lookers to forget what they had seen. Especially in a world of instant communication, banking, purchasing, and infromation sharing, a week is like an eternity. I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday, not to mention last week! Secondly, I do not believe that requiring disclosure of lawsuits against the parent company would be realistic, helpful, or even normal. Imagine a lesser known fast food franchise having to post all lawsuits so that everyone could read them. Any lawsuit, however idiotic or false, makes people automatically begin to fear. Requiring the posting of lawsuits doesn't prove anything. It just makes people become afraid. Also, the bigger the company, the more lawsuits it willl automatically have, due to the fact that it has more publicity, members and clients. For example, look up how many lawsuits microsoft has had! You'll be amazed! Lastly, requiring the sharing of personal contact information is just plain stupid in this day and age. That would cause more problems than anything else. Thank you for your concern and thoughtfulness in these matters. Sincerely, Tim Lindberg
