Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to express my concern about the proposed business opportunity rule R511993. I understand the FTC's role is to protect the public from " unfair and deceptive practices and that is a good thing, however some of the sections in the proposed ruling would make it nearly impossible to conduct business as an oasis life sciences associate. I don't get the seven day waiting period? If I go look at a car and decide I am excited about it and would like to purchase I am not required to waite 7 days to drive it home. When I bought my last hearing aid office I did not have to waite 7 days and it cost alot more than $20.00 which is what it costs to become an Oasis associate. Oasis has a 90% buy back policy on any product, including sales kits within the 1st 12 months, so why would you need a 7 day waiting period? I would not be willing to keep detailed records on the 1st 7 days after I speak to someone about Oasis and then send those to Oasis etc. What a pain! The proposed rule would also require me to disclose any information regarding lawsuits involving deceptive or unfair practices even if the company is found innocent. Am I still living in the united states of america? As you well know anyone can bring a lawsuit against anyone else for any reason today. This would be highly unfair to Oasis or any direct selling company! This ruling further proposes that I would have to provide the perspective business associate with 10 references of people near to him or her who are already involved with Oasis , which leads to confidentiality issues. In this day of identity theft and so forth I find this proposal insane and intrusive! I am sure people would be hesitant about joining a company with this requirement. I am a 52 yr old father of 4 with 4 wonderful grandchildren. I have been a business owner and have been self employed for more than 23 years. I have always been concerned with having enough residual cash flow to allow my wife Julie and I to someday retire with dignity. One of my hearing aid patients and a trusted friend "gifted" me some of the Oasis products about 30 months ago. Don knew I had been suffering with osteo artheritis in both thumbs and was bone on bone in both knees. I had also been suffering with a spasming nerve condition in my lower back for over 6 years and had been under the care of the top neurologist at oregon health sciences university. After numerouse treatments including an attempt to freeze and kill the nerve, which was unsuccessful, I had given up hope of ever having a normal life as the pain was dibilitating. All the doctors could do for me was to provide me with anti convulsive drugs to try to control the nerve spasms. I was also on medication for high blood pressure and acid reflex. I had tried all the over the counter medications as well as many of the dangerous prescription cox 2 inhibiters and nsaid drugs. While the drugs did help some , I did not enjoy the side effects. Within a few days of taking a small regiman of Oasis products the discomfort in my thumbs and knees was significantly better and I had energy I had not felt in years. Over the following 9 months I worked with my doctor in slowly reducing the dosages of the med,s I was on and after 9 months was off all prescription medications. I have not had a nerve spasm in over a year and my level of discomfort remains managable. Oasis makes no claims to diagnose or cure anything, it just seems like alot of people like me are having amazing results. My success with the products compelled me to become involved in the business end of the company and I started "gifting " out the product to people I knew and cared about. To date I have given out 99 gifts and have had 41 people join me as customers or associates and that has led to over 700 people throughout the U.S. and Canada having better health, and a nice residual monthly income (retirement). PLease vote against R511993. Thanks
