I am strongly opposed to Business Opportunity Rule #R511993. I understand the FTC must protect the public from unfair and deceptive acts or practices, but This Proposed Business Rule is an unbelievable burden on the small business owner. This will seriously halt any recruiting for our businesses and make unnecessary paperwork for ourselves and anyone with whom we are working. How ludicrous! Most of the consumers that are in my business sign up for a product discount and not for a business opportunity. Also, the disclosure of 10 prior purchasers names and addresses is an invasion of privacy for those people. I am uncomfortable giving out other people's addresses to new customers. The lawsuit disclosure portion of the bill is only advantageous to a new start up company which may not have any litigation pending or may only have been in business a few months. My company, Shaklee Corporation has been in business fifty years. Does the small independent business owner have to be made to go out of business because of bureacracy and paperwork? Please re-consider this legislation as it is not only an invasion of other's privacy but a system to put us out of business. Thank you.
