To Whom It May Concern: I am concerned that the proposed New Business Opportunity Rule will negatively impact my home business and thus, my livelihood. Recruiting and sharing this business with other women is what keeps my business alive and growing. I think this new Rule places many unnecessary burdens on most women in direct sales who run an ethical, honest business - like me. We are trying to earn a decent income while taking care of our families. I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to have my lia sophia Jewelry business. I work this business full time and was previously a teacher. I am able to spend more time with my family while paying medical bills and other major expenses that we would otherwise have to dip into savings for. I love this business, and I, like most other women in this business, do not feel like I have been deceived in any way. I thank those that offered the opportunity!! IF, however, I was given a discloser statement with information about women who cancelled or past lawsuits, I don’t think I would have given this business the credibility and respect that it deserves. It is not fair that I have to be wrongfully penalized because of a small number independent contractors who have caused this negative view of my profession. As with any other profession, those who are doing harm and involved in deceit should rightfully be penalized and punished. Those who are working their business the way it should be worked (MOST of us) should be congratulated on their contribution to the American economy! Ultimately, the cost of implementation would fall on the shoulders of those who are trying to better their families, reduce debt, put children through college, etc. Since almost all independent contractors working in direct sales businesses are women, this Rule is harmful to WOMEN working in viable, respectable careers. Lasty, recruiting others to work this business is crucial to my success. I LOVE training new advisors and working with them not just to give myself a bigger paycheck, but because I see how it also changes the life of another individual or FAMILY. (Dishonesty would NOT give me a bigger paycheck, it would cause a waste of time on someone who would quit the business anyway!!!) Slowing down the recruitng process or making it difficult for me would seriously harm my business. PLEASE consider these harmful effects. Thank you, Kerry Youso
