I wanted to express my concern about requiring that direct sales people need to furnish 10 refernces to prospective consultants. I have two concerns regarding this issue. One, there may be some people who do not want to be used as a reference and might view this as a breach of privacy for themselves. The other issue is that if I give my name out as a reference, which I don't mind, but I could be bogged down in phone calls of potential consultants that would take away time from my own growing business. I know that the company I represent is a great company and has nothing to hide, but I believe that the issues you will be looking to use for regulation will hurt us more than help.
