Dear Members of FTC, Your concern for consumer protection is greatly appreciated, however, I am very concerned about the impact of this ruling on my legitimate direct selling company. I do realize that there are fraudulent groups out there, but this particular rule unfairly targets legitimate direct selling businesses. I feel that the seven-day waiting period casts a negative light on my direct selling business as I try to establish a trusting relationship with a client, also the record keeping and administration problems this would cause along with unnecessary delays; it just seems to be impractical and burdensome. The earning claims section, well, it would be really difficult to collect the data required and consume valuable time from my business. Even though I, as a legitimate and honest business person, working for an upstanding company would report accurate data what would differentiate me from the "bad actors" How do you tell what information is correct? I feel that this particular rule unfairly targets legitimate direct selling businesses. I do have a problem with the privacy and safety issues. Identity theft is becoming such a problem these days to give information of "10 of the nearest existing sales people" does not seem to be in their best interest. I know I would not like my information handed out, plus it all seems very impractical. Grant it the consumer needs to be protected but it has taken me along time to find a small business that hasn't cost me more dollars than I could up to be a part of it. The $500 threshold would make it very difficult for someone like myself to get started. There must be a better way to protect consumers and be fair to direct selling businesses. Please keep looking for a better solution Thank you for your attention and allowing me to state my opinions. Sincerely, Jane A Geddes
