First, I commend you for wanting to take action on illegitimate business opportunities. I have been involved with Quixtar, formerly Amway, the majority of my life as my father became involved when I was two. I am now 40 and have been an IBO for about 12 years. I have not put a lot of effort into the business, but I have several retail customers and a few IBO's. Since my father became quite successful in this business, I have seen thousands give it a shot. Some have earned a great income, some have earned a fair income and some didn't really do anything. Not much different than any other "traditional" business, or school or job. I am a sales manager for a multi billion dollar corperation and no matter how effective my hiring and training, some earn a great income, some earn a fair income and some don't make it. This is a fact of life. As for me as a Quixtar IBO, I do very little as I am content in my career at this time. It is nice, however, to know that I can work my Quixtar business on a part time basis to bring in extra income from time to time when needed. I am not after the BIG money, though I know it's there as I personally know many of the top IBO's. I am associated with a team that helps some of my IBO's develop their businesses. This team does not pressure people to join or make crazy income claims. We give people the information they need to decide if this is right for them and help them with an activity outline to help them achieve what they want for themselves ... most of the time it's not much more than several hundred dollars a month. When this is the case, we show them how to do that by getting some customers. If someone wants to earn a large income, I show them the work it's going to take and ask them if they are willing to do that. If not, I let them know they need to re-evaluate what they want or how they are going to achieve it. I am all for making sure that these businesses are credible and legitamate ... I think what needs to be done is make the penelties for those who are unethical or illegal extremely harsh. Instead of making the good guy go through hurdles, make the bad guy think twice before doing wrong and HEAVILY punish him when he does. Too many time it's the good guy that suffers because we follow the rules. Make all the new rules you want ... the bad guys will not follow those either. Thank you for your time and feel free to contact me any time. John A Villani II
