Comments:
I commend the FTC on its intention to protect individuals, however, there is language and proposals in this act that would adversely affect the customers and business practice of direct sales participants. Our company policy contains more ethical guidelines and customer satisfaction protections than shopping at the supermarket or purchasing gasoline. The restrictions being proposed by this bill do not increase the protection of the consumer, but they certainly hinder the ability to do business in a direct sales environment. Please look at the waiting period proposal and the proposal for legal and personal disclosures again. These items must be changed to protect our ability to do business. The service provided to consumers in the many direct sales businesses is enormous. I am both a consumer and a business participant in direct sales and can see more issues with this bill than I can adequately detail in the space provided. Please listen to all of the concerned persons responding to this notice. Thank you. Brenda R. Barkman
