I appreciate the FTC’s attempts of protecting the general public and attempting to eliminate the illegal scams. There are some area’s I feel are devastating to this industry though. It is my opinion that a seven day wait is not in the best interest of direct marketing. It would severely hamper new people from bringing in their own new business owners. When several people look at a business at the same time it would not be fair for that group to sign up one, then wait seven days for the next, and seven days for the next. It is much more effective to make sure that there is a full money back plan in place for those who do not wish to participate. This way there is no way that the people will be taken advantage of. I do not like having my prospects being given the opportunity to be signed up by someone else. This is what can happen if I give 10 references. Also, it is a Great imposition, not to say an invasion of privacy for me to give out someone else’s name, number and address out. We have meetings where the prospects can meet many business owners face to face and speak to them. This is a direct selling business, similar to Wal- Mart, and I do not think that they would be required to give out 10 competitors name to every customer that comes in the door. It would be ludicrous to list all the lawsuits. People are filing lawsuits for illegitimate reasons all the time. Wal-Mart gets sued every day for the most frivolous things. It is not right for me to keep up with 10 years of lawsuits without merit. Besides, the illegal groups would just ignore the rule anyway. There are many ways to earn an income with our business model. It is crazy to assume that you could have documents with you on all levels. If you have to have something there, we do use the average of active IBO’s. Also, I do not discuss my pay check with my fellow employee’s so I really do not think it is fair to expect to share my business financial income either. It is there if there are any inquires by official investigations.
