The proposed guidelines to cut down on illegal scams will only hurt legitimate businesses because illegal business scams are not going to follow the guidelines set by the FTC. Illegal businesses are not concerned about following guidelines they are just going to do all they can until they get caught. Then layl ow and start something else after the dust settles. Therefore, the proposed guidelines will harm businesses that have the integrity to comply with laws and regulations. These guidelines, while intended to protect, will only cause confusion for people operating business as well as prospective business participants. The companies we represent and associate ourselves with have gone above and beyond to make information available to all prospects who have a concern. Our training groups teach that integrity is the only way to build a business. Our business teams are taught that making false claims or any other forms of dishonesty do not help our business. Any short term gain from such acts is far outweighed by the long-term harm that it does personally as well as to the entire team. I have been an Independant Business Owner for ovewr 5 years. Our business has not only provided financially for us but has also given mayself and my spouse a dream to persue together. Our goal is to reach other people in our community who can benefit from the personal development as well as the financial development. Requirments for a 7 day wait would dampen any new prospects enthusiasm they have aabout their new Independent Business because they would have a waiting period before they can proceed.. We find that people who get off to a fast start have more success and acquire knowledge faster. Any delay in a fast start would greatly decrease a new prospects success rate. Having to provide references would take away the control of information from Independent Business Owners and put peoples financial future in the hands of others. I respect my business associates but I do not unconditionally trust other people with my financial future. That is why I enjoy my own business over a corporate job where you are left with little control. A litigation list would provide a problem for me as well. I cannot be responsible for millions of other business owners across the country. I can only be responsible for myself and my actions. Earning disclosures constitutes an invasion of privacy. Thank you for all that you do to help and protect the freedoms we have to be in business for ourselves. You help us keep Free Enterprise a reality. But these proposed guidelines will hurt free enterprise, not prolong it.
