This will not be a sophisticated letter but it will be from my heart. I’m 66 years old, excellent health and want to work as long as possible. For years prior to joining the other millions that work in the direct sales industry, I worked for my husband in the insurance business and when his staff was in place I became a “professional volunteer”. Now, because of my age, no employer would even look at my resume’ and certainly would not consider hiring me. Thankfully, a dear friend introduced me to the direct sales industry. I’ve been in the industry for approximately 8 years, the last 2 years with XanGo LLC located in Lehi Utah. I am honored and proud to be associated with XanGo LLC. My earnings are making a major difference in our finances and I never dreamed I could have these earnings at any age, with any company. Also, because of personal growth seminars, training, mentoring, etc my increased confidence is evident in every aspect of my life. There are many concerns about the changes being suggested. Several of my associates are single moms that would need to be back on some type of government assistance if they did not have their income from XanGo. Some of the people on my team are bedridden, cannot leave their home and this industry and XanGo have opened up an entire new world for them. The direct sales industry is helping them to have productive lives, plus they are helping others. There are also several retirees & retired missionaries in my group and they are so thankful they have a monthly check to supplement their retirement income. A major concern about the rule “Business Opportunity Rule R511993”, if enacted, would require a 7 day waiting period before clients can enroll. Many of the people in my organization are well on their way to building their business at the end of a week. This would also require extra follow up, recording keeping and additional administration duties. Regarding the rule to provide the 10 nearest sales people: I speak with people all over the country and in some other countries and there is not a way to determine who the nearest sales reps are. With all the identity theft that occurs, most people will not want their location and affiliations exposed to anyone unless they chose to do it themselves. Besides the impracticality of this rule, there is certainly privacy and safety issues involved in this proposal. Unfortunately in direct sales and every other occupation or business there are companies and people who are out to try to “beat the system”. My greatest concern is that in your attempt to expose fraudulent companies you hurt the numerous legitimate, ethical companies like XanGo that provide work opportunities plus valuable goods and services. I’m thankful for this industry and will be forever grateful for the opportunity given to me. My company is conscientious about providing rules and guideline for legal and ethical behavior. Given our success, we would certainly never do anything to jeopardize or compromise our company’s reputation or my position as an independent distributor. Respectfully, Dot Forbus
